My K1-Visa Journey

I have a very smooth journey so far and I really want to share this experience to those who are now in this process, hoping that by reading this, I can help them in some way.
November 13, 2008. – We submitted our application to California Service Center. Michael, my husband was the one who almost did everything. From researching down to filling up the forms. My advice to those who are planning to apply, just fill up the forms correctly, sign everything and don’t forget to include pictures.
November 19, 2008 – Received our NOA1. You can actually tract your case at USCIS website just make sure that you know the receipt number. Don’t be discouraged if all you see is “Case Pending”, it only means that they have not processed your case yet. If you see “Touched”, meaning someone have actually read your case and they’re processing it.
February 11, 2009 – Received our NOA2. This is the final notice, stating that the case has been approved and ready to be forwarded to NVC ( National Visa Center).
February 17, 2009 – NVC received our case. Days after you received your NOA2, you have to call NVC, know if they receive your case and ask them too when are they going to forward it to Manila Embassy. It is important that they tell you the Manila Case Number they assigned to your case. Below is the link on how to contact NVC.

February 25, 2009 – Manila Embassy received our case. A week after NVC forwarded your case to USEM, you have to call USEM to set an interview appointment. Supposedly, after USEM receives your case, they will send a letter to the beneficiary, stating there that she/he is ligible to call the embassy to set for an interview schedule but usually this will take very, very long. You don’t have to wait for that so instead call them.
Via PLDT or SMART (with NDD or IDD access): Tel. No. 1-909-101-7878
The number will be available for GLOBE subscribers shortly.
Seafarer Call Center: Tel. No. 1-909-101-7878
Callers in the USA can also contact the Call Center at 1-888-877-9888. There is a fee assessed to callers by the call center for its services.
So basically the journey went smoothly but we also had a little problem along the way. Upon preparing my documents way ahead before my interview schedule, I found out that I needed to secure a Japanese Police Clearance. I am making another blog of how I process the said Clearance because I know that alot of Filipina used to work in Japan and this topic will surely help them

You have said that you called for an appointment before the letter, how did you pay for the application fee? Was there a form included in the packet they have to send the beneficiary?

Hi. Are you referring to the $131 application fee? If yes, then you need to have your appointment letter for this. Bring your appointment letter to Banco de Oro bank and just tell the teller that you are paying for k1 visa. Below is the link.

When you are sure that your case has been forwarded from NVC to Manila US embassy, you can call USEM and schedule for an interview appointment. After calling, USEM will send you an email for your interview which is referred as Interview Appointment Receipt. You have to bring this receipt to BDO for paying $131.

Goodeve po,.kasi po in my case, after my interview bingyan po ako ng white slip at nakasaad dun na kailangan kung magpasa ng japan pol.cert, kasabay ng passport namin ng anak ko.ang inaalala ko lamang po kasi tagal ng paghihintay ng clearance from japan.at worid ako kasi ung validity ng approval notice namin is until dec.9 po.at nag apply ako ng clearance nung pagkatapos mismo ng interview ko,last oct.7.at tumawag po ako kanina sa japan embassy for follow up,at sabi wala pa daw.ask ko lng po kung di ba yun makaapekto sa validity ng approval notice namin?Sana po maka response po kau sa akin.Salamat po!

Hello.

Ang mabuti sigurong gawin mo is to call US Embassy. Sabihin mo sa kanila ang sitwasyon mo. Kasi usually it will take 2 months mula nang magfile ka for your Japan Police Clearance. The sooner you'll call them, the better para ma plano mo lahat. Goodluck ha and let me know kung anong magyari.
