Chocolate Walnut Bars

Ingredients:
  • 2oz Walnuts
  • 2 1/4 oz white sugar
  • 3 1/4 oz all purpose flour, sifted
  • 3 oz unsalted butter, sliced
Topping
  • 1 oz unsalted butter
  • 3 oz water
  • 1 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • icing sugar

Direction:
  • Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 8x8 baking tin.
  • Grind walnuts with a little sugar in a food processor or blender.
  • Combine ground walnuts with the remaining sugar and butter with your fingertips until it forms course breadcrumbs.
  • Pat the walnut mixture into the baking tin in an equal layer and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, melt the butter with the water. Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar. Remove from the heat and add vanilla.
  • Let it cool for 10 minutes and beat in the eggs.
  • Pour into the baked walnut mixture and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Let it cool and then slice into bars. Dust with icing sugar.
